Album 9/Ships 17+18

Now I’m not a big fan of the death penalty, even for murder. But there are a handful of worse crimes that I might consider dealing out such a draconian punishment for. Using the “thumb of power”, signalling right to exit a roundabout (UK only) and stating that Signals is a terrible album. That is grossly and utterly WRONG! Signals is a wonderful album. It marked a stark change of musical direction for the band with a much bigger emphasis on keyboards. It does sound a lot different than anything that had gone before. But is it still one of the best ever Rush albums in my very honest opinion. It also veers away from the longer, more complex compositions in favour of shorter, more commercial releases.

Type 7 Transporter

The Type 7. Some call it the “Flying Coffin” I’ll admit I really wasn’t looking forward to using this ship. It could have been a great ship. But it can only use large landing pads and that limits its usefulness tremendously. The final nail in the coffin for me though was the constant “Warning! Temperature critical!” alerts EVERY TIME you jump. So, because its basically a sitting duck – I decided to name her Losing It.

Type 9 Transporter

Now we have the Type 7’s MUCH bigger sister. The Type 9. I have named her the Subdivisions. She is a total pig to fly. She is slow. Her shield strength is hardly worth the power diverted to them. She barely fits through the Coriolis mail slot without badly scratching the paintjob. But I love her so much!

I also happen to think she is beautiful, elegant and graceful in flight. Like a blue whale, huge, breath-taking, stunning. She takes a lot of getting used to but once you do, and she starts to make you money…lots and lots of money…
